Specific Admission Requirements

Department of Parasitology

  • For admission to the PhD program, applicants must:
    1. Meet the general requirements for admission to graduate studies
    2. Hold a Master’s degree in Parasitology or a Doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine
  • Graduates acquire:
    1. Advanced techniques in Parasitology research
    2. Advanced techniques in Immunoparasitology and Serology
    3. Advanced techniques in Molecular Biology of Parasites

Department of Aquatic Animal Health

  • For admission to the PhD program, applicants must:
    1. Have an accredited MSc degree in a related subject (i.e. in Fisheries Sciences or Marine biology) or a General Doctorate (i.e. DVM) degree.
    2. Eligible students must also take part in the graduate board examination and submit a complete profile of their academic background and achievements.
  • Graduates acquire:
    1. The necessary skills and abilities in different fields of Aquatic Animal Health Management and Diseases and will be able to work in various research and educational organizations such as the Fisheries Research Organization.

Department of Animal and Poultry Health & Nutrition

  • For admission to the PhD program, applicants must:
    1. Have a DVM or MSc degree in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition Aquatic Science, Food Technology or Biotechnology.
  • Graduates acquire:
    1. The necessary skills to manage all aspects of feed hygiene as well as enforce quality control on different feeds prepared for various species of ruminants, poultry and aquatic animals.

Department of Food Hygiene and Quality Control

•  Food Hygiene program

  • For admission to the PhD program in Food Hygiene, applicants must:
    1. Meet the general requirements for entering the program
    2. Hold a DVM, MD, Dentistry or Pharm. D degree or an MSC degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry or Biology
  • Graduates acquire:
    1. The necessary skills for microbiological and chemical analysis of foods
    2. Knowledge on toxicity and contamination of food products
    3. Knowledge on legal and administrative food safety regulations
    4. Knowledge on implementing the HACCP system in the food industry

•  Epidemiology program

  • For admission to the PhD program in Epidemiology program, applicants must:
    1. Meet the general requirements for entering the course
    2. Hold a DVM, MD, Dentistry, Pharm. D or MSC degree in Epidemiology
  • Graduates acquire:
    1. Developing Protocols
    2. Designing and conducting research on humans and animals
    3. Computer based data management and statistical analysis
    4. Scientific writing and communication
    5. Critical appraisal and interpretation of medical literature

Department of Theriogenology

  • For admission to the DVSc program, applicants must:
    1. Meet the general requirements for entering the course
    2. Hold a DVM degree 
  • For admission to the PhD program, applicants must:
    1. Hold a Master’s degree in Biotechnology or a Doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine
    2. Posses advanced techniques in Theriogenology research
