Objectives and Present Status

The Faculty has 89 full-time faculty members including 18 professors, 38 associate professors and 32 assistant professors. The Faculty has two well-equipped animal clinics and three research centers. Every year, the Faculty admits around 130 students to the different fields of study. Around 40% of the Faculty’s undergraduate students continue their studies on to the graduate level.

All departments play a crucial role in educating DVM, MSc, PhD and DVSc students. Students enrolled in the DVM program acquire the necessary skills and abilities in various fields including preventing, eradicating and curing animal diseases, providing general health through controlling livestock-origin food hygiene and controlling common diseases between humans and animals.

The rising importance of veterinary medicine and the need for veterinarians’ ability to function in any setting has resulted in the launch of many research projects in this field. This has led to a joint effort between several departments of the Faculty, including diverse activities through which veterinary knowledge and skills can be directed to the well being and health of animals. Some of these research projects have dealt with the biochemical and pathological issues of livestock, poultry and aquatic animals in order to assure maximum quality and reliability. All of the research activities of the Faculty are recorded in the annual university report. In addition, all publications, their impact factors, and H-indexes have been evaluated since 2001. The Faculty receives funding from the government; however, most of the research funding of the departments are from the private sector.
