Major Activities

The activities of IRCTTD can be summarized in the following items:

1. Participation in national and international conferences
2. Distribution of tick-fauna in Iran
3. Determination of Ticks species and subspecies as vectors for piroplasms, bacteria and viruses
4. Diagnosis using methods such as single and double immunostaining, PCR, nested PCR, PCR-RFLP, RLB, Western blotting and S.M.
5. Phylogenetic analysis of ticks using determination of 18S rRNA, ITS-1 and 2 by different ticks
6. Development of vaccines against ticks and ticks transmitted agents
7. Evaluation of acaracide agents against ticks
8. Evaluation of bio-agents against ticks
9. Organizing international symposiums such as “Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases” (2003); "Transboundary Diseases" (2008); and “Workshop for FMD” (2008)
