SRCIF and ESCAP Joint Workshop at University of Tehran

Special Reporting Committee on Iran Floods 2019(SRCIF) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific(ESCAP) organized a two-day “Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Development Workshop on South-South and Regional Cooperation for Flood Risk Management in Islamic Republic of Iran”.

Similar to many countries of the world, Iran is facing the increasing risk of flood disasters, and the increasing losses caused by flood disasters, which seriously threatens the social and economic development.

 

The workshop started with the welcome speech of Dr. Nili, the President of University of Tehran and was followed of the welcome address by Dr. Pourmohammadi, Deputy Vice President for Planning and Budget Organization of I.R. Iran and Ms. Ugochi Daniels, UN Resident Coordinator to Islamic Republic of Iran.

The national and international scientists and experts from different organizations dealing with flood risk management discussed the causes, consequences, risk and crisis management over the two-day workshop.

 

Participation of internationally and nationally recognized experts, researchers, scientists and organizations in Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Development Workshop on South-South and Regional Cooperation for Flood Risk Management in Islamic Republic of Iran assists the Special Reporting Committee on Iran Floods 2019 (SRCIF) with the outcomes of the meeting to have more clear and realistic and integrated understanding of flood management in the future.
