MoU signed between University of Tehran and Communication University of China

Aiming at expanding the international cooperation with Asian universities and as a result of the attempts made by UTARC and Office of Vice President for International Affairs as well, a Memorandum of Understanding  was signed between University of Tehran and Communication University of China by Prof. Mahmood Nili Ahmadabadi and Dr. Liao Xiangzhong the presidents of both  universities following the visit of Chinese delegation to Iran.

This MoU focuses on development of cooperation through faculty and student exchange, holding mutual conference and seminar and conducting mutual research projects. The expiration of this contract is within 5years which can be extended by agreement of both parties.

The Communication University of China ( CUC)

The Communication University of China (CUC) is one of the China’s key universities directly administered by the Ministry of Education.  CUC developed from what used to be a training center for technicians of the Central Broadcasting Bureau that was founded in 1954. In April 1959, CUC was upgraded to the Beijing Broadcasting Institute (BBI) approved by the State Council. In August 2004, BBI was renamed Communication University of China. CUC is located in the eastern part of Beijing near the ancient canal, which occupies 463,700 square meters of land and a total of 499,800 square meters of buildings. The motto of the CUC is “integrity, professionalism, erudition and competence”.

There are currently six faculties (Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Faculty of Art, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Literature and Law, Faculty of Advertising, Economics and Management, Faculty of Continuing Education) and one co-innovation center (Communication Strategy of China Co-Innovation Center).

Communication University of China is one of the officially-sanctioned important base in China for teaching foreign languages and especially narrowly-used languages. So far, CUC has successively offered 32 Bachelor's programs in modern foreign languages since its establishment. Some of programs recruit students irregularly every few years according to admission plans sanctioned by the Ministry of Education. CUC is still the only university in China to offer Bachelor's programs in Bengali, Tamil, Pashto and Esperanto.

This university conducts Persian Language courses since 1988. According to the subject ranking of Chinese universities which is released by China Education Ministry, the rank of this university in communication and journalism is 1, in art theory is 3 and in design is 10 among all Chinese universities. This university has the rank of 401-450 according to QS ranking system in Asian universities. It is worth mentioning that according to the negotiations, this university is due to consider to grant a number of scholarships to a limited number of filmmaking students from University of Tehran.
