Turkish Ambassador to I.R. of Iran meets with UT President

Prof. Derya Örs, Turkish Ambassador to I. R. of Iran paid a visit to University of Tehran on 19 May, 2019 and met with Prof. Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi, President of University of Tehran.

In this meeting both sides exchanged ideas on various ways to promote the academic cooperation between University of Tehran and Turkish universities.

Given the historical and cultural relations between the two countries, President Nili Ahmadabadi emphasized on the significance of bilateral cooperation and expressed the readiness of UT to develop ties with Turkish universities and higher education institutions.

Prof. Derya Örs, Turkish Ambassador also stated that Turkey is interested in supporting the establishment of Turkish Language Department at University of Tehran and hope this could be made in collaboration with both sides.

In this respect, Prof. Nili Ahmadabadi, President of University of Tehran stated that UT will instruct the related faculties to make a feasibility study and see if it is possible to fulfill such an academic program, though it is now offered as an optional second language. 

During this meeting both sides expressed their desires to work on the promotion of the education of Persian and Turkish languages and culture , exchange of students, donation of books to libraries , holding joint conferences between top Iranian and Turkish universities, joint seminars and collaboration with science and technology parks.

It was also agreed in principle to organize a visit for the Turkish Ambassador to the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature and Faculty of World Studies and a presentation addressed to faculty members and students. It is worth noting that   Prof. Derya Örs, Turkish Ambassador to I. R. of Iran is an academician and a Ph.D. graduate in the field of Persian Language and Literature from Ankara University with many academic activities in his record.

This meeting was held in the presence of Prof. Mohammad Bagher Ghahramani, Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Goodarz Rashtiani, Advisor to the Dean of The Faculty of Literature and Humanities and Faculty Member of the Department of History and Abdolmajid Esknadari, Director General.
