AUAP and MRSP have released an announcement on The First Robotic Competition in Manila, Philippines on September 26-27, 2019. The text of announcement reads as follows:

I am very pleased to inform you that the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) and the Mechatronics and Robotic Society of the Philippines (MRSP) will jointly organize their First Robotic Competition in Manila, Philippines on September 26 & 27, 2019. The venue is at the World Trade Center on Roxas Boulevard in Manila. The competing teams are expected to arrive on September 25 and depart on September 28, 2019.

This competition will be based on the 2018-2019 VEX Robotics Competition game called Turning Point. This competition is used worldwide.  The competition will have two (2) kinds of competing teams, Tertiary Level and Secondary Level. Each team will consist of around five (5) members, four (4) students and one coach. The Tertiary Level teams will use VEX U as the guide, while the Secondary Level Team will use VEX IQ as their guide. These will be explained to the competing teams by our Technical Advisers & Consultants. The details can be found in the Attachment.

At this stage, we would like to determine how many institutions, tertiary and secondary level, will participate in this competition.  We hope that your institution will be encouraged to participate as we have Technical Advisers & Consultants who will give advice to your Robotic Team to help them along their journey of building a robot to solve a challenge. What is important at this stage is the will to start working on this project and to find interested students and faculty members who will work on this Robotic Competition Project.  Our Technical Advisers & Consultants are Mr. Andy Lee, President of INNOVATION FIRST INTERNATIONAL (IFI), which is the parent company of VEX Robotics  and Ms. Crystal Zhang, Regional Event Manager from IFI who  are ready to help you. They can also guide you in preparing your budget for this project.

If your institution is interested to join this Robotic Competition Project and eventually compete in September 26-27, 2019, please contact our Executive Secretary at: supaporn@aunap.org.  The deadline for submitting your "expression of interest" to join in the competition is April 30, 2019 and the final submission of your documents to participate in the Competition is August 25, 2019. The Registration Fee is only US $100 per team and payable to the AUAP Secretariat when you submit your final documents on August 25.

Now is the time for your institution to start a Robotic Competition Project as someone is willing to help your team.  Those institutions willing to embark on this project will be given the different websites that they can use in pursuing their dreams of building their own robots. Please take the first step now to become a UNIVERSITY 4.0 !

We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Supaporn Chuangchid
