Meeting on "Iran-Uzbekistan Relations in the Post-Karimov Era

The 83rd academic meeting of Center for Central Eurasian Studies was held on February 24, 2019. The topic of discussions in the meeting was on “Iran-Uzbekistan Relations in the Post-Karimov Era.

This event was held with the participation of Dr. Goli Yuldashva, professor of Department of Contemporary History at Institute of History, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences at the venue of Faculty of Law and Political Sciences. 

In this meeting, after preliminary welcome and remarks by Prof. Kolaei, Head of Department for Regional Studies at Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Prof. Goli Yuldashva presented a general view of Uzbekistan, issues of post-independence, components affecting the Iran and Uzbekistan relations. Concerns about Islamic fundamentalism especially after Tajikistan local wars, and sanctions as important issues. She further explained about relations with regional and world powers, Eurasia, regional convergence and in particular relations with Iran, China and Russia.

The meeting was followed by question and answers by the students and faculty members focusing on issues such as Silk Road, alteration of the elite’s attitudes, relation with US and other countries.
