Useful information for International Students and Researchers

University of Tehran offers academic programs for international students and scholars.  The best way to learn about the programs is to visit the website of UT and the affiliated departments as well.

  1. Contact the Office of Vice President for International Affairs at international@ut.ac.ir  and int.admissions@ut.ac.ir for information you might need.
  1. For study or research purposes, contact a professor, department, or the Office of Vice President for international Affairs prior to your visit to Iran. The contact information of the faculty members is available on the website of colleges and faculties.
  1. If you want to pursue your study leading to a degree, send copies of your previous academic records to the Office for International Students and Staffs or the related department, college or faculty. Following the evaluation of your documents, the department will issue an initial admission letter. After the initial admission letter is issued, the office for International Students and Staffs will get the final approval of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
  1. Upon receiving the final admission letter, click the following link www.saorg.ir, upload the required documents and receive a four-digit code. Once you receive the code, you can apply for Educational Visa to study at UT. The visa will be extended upon you arrival by the Office for International Students and Staffs.
  1. Researchers need an official letter from their own university confirming their academic status and purpose of the research.  Having such a letter, the office can introduce them to the related department, faculty or any other institutions outside UT.
  1. Researchers or visiting scholars should click the following link www.saorg.ir, upload their documents and receive a four-digit code. Once they receive the code, they can apply for Educational Visa. The visa will be extended upon arrival by the Office for International Students and Staffs.  
  1. The researcher or visiting scholar who are faculty members, do not need upload their documents at www.saorg.ir. They should send their passport copies and a completed visa form to the Office for International Students and Staffs.
  1. In each university, one of the faculty members acts as the International Advisor to the Dean for International Affairs. You may contact them for questions related to application, study or research.
  1. If you need transport service from Airport to the UT, contact the Office for International Students and Staffs (international@ut.ac.ir or int.admissions@ut.ac.ir.) to arrange your transfer. 
  1. To retune to home country, students with Educational Visa should obtain their exit visa at least one week before the intended date for departure.
  1. To have access to UT internet facilities, contact Office of Protocol.
  1. UT students and scholars can use UT health insurance upon arrival.  To apply for health insurance, contact the Office for International Students and Staffs.
  1.  The students and scholars should apply to receive their UT ID card at the Office for International Students and Staffs.
  1. Accommodation in University of Tehran is always in high demand. UT provides rooms either in Centralized Dormitory Complex or independent flats near the Central campus. If you decide to move into the dormitory, contact the Office for International Students and Staffs.
  1. It is not advisable to have a large amount of cash with you. To open a bank account at one of the banks near the university, students or visiting scholars should present their passport with a valid residence permit (Educational Visa) and a letter from the Office for the Office for International Students and Staffs to the bank.  If you have any problems opening an account, contact the Office (int.admissions@ut.ac.ir) for help.
