Workshop on Chabahar Port and Regional Cooperation was held at Center for Central Eurasian Studies, UT
The 82nd Specialized Scientific Meeting was held on the 8th of January, 2019 within the framework of a Workshop entitled “Chabahar Port and Regional Cooperation” by the Center for Central Eurasian Studies in association with Iranian Association of Regional Studies , and Association of Political Sciences of Iran.
The speakers of the event were comprised of Prof. Mohammad Bagher Forough, from Leiden University and Prof. Jafar Haghpanah , Assistant Professor for Regional Studies and Head of Desk for Afghanistan Studies and the Association of Political Sciences of Iran as well.
In this event, Prof. Elahe Kooaei , Head of Center for Central Eurasian Studies stated, “ The purpose of this workshop is to highlight the subject of Chabahar, the necessity of activating and full-fledged utilization of the national and regional capacities for policy makers and planners”.
Furthermore, Prof. Forough put forth some ideas on geopolitics and geo-economics changes in recent decades, strategic plans of countries to form the network of infrastructures, regional regime building and position of Iran in these changes.
Prof. Haghpanah also presented his views on the significance of Chabahar, the advantages and strengths of this port as compared with other ports and the necessity of activating the geopolitical and geo-economics capacities of Iran and its neighbors.
The Workshop ended with the question and answer made by the participants.
