National Contact Points for Scientific, Educational and Research Cooperation with European Commission Meet in Tehran
Iranian National Contact Points (NCPs) for scientific, educational and research cooperation with European Commission (EC), headed by Prof. Salar Amoli, met on 5th Dec. 2018, at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
In this meeting, Prof. Salar Amoli, as the main NCP in Iran, emphasized on the importance of expanding cooperation with the EC, and the need for synchronous of all Iranian NCPs.
The 16 NCPs present in this meeting, including representatives of the Ministry of Health, and Medical Education, presented their cooperation with EC over the past two years, where their achievements, challenges and new approaches were highlighted and discussed. Examples of such activates can be named as, cooperation in the frameworks of Horizon 2020 and Erasmus +, and various fields of ‘science and society’, ‘new and renewable energies’, ‘Euratom’, ‘food security’, ‘agriculture’, ‘biotechnology’, ‘climate’, etc.
It is worth noting that the scientific and research cooperation of Iran and the European Union, have significantly expanded, after the Nuclear agreement between Iran and 5+1. In line with this, a joint Committee has been formed, where three meetings of this joint Committee have been set up in Tehran and Brussels, followed by the fourth meeting to be held next month, in Brussels. The Ministry of Science, Research and Technology is the main national coordinator for scientific, research and research cooperation with EC, facilitating the cooperation between 16 Iranian NCPs and European countries.
