A high ranking delegation from University of Warsaw, Poland visited UT

A high ranking delegation from University of Warsaw, Poland led by Prof. Maciej Duszczyk, Vice-Rector of the University of Warsaw for Research and International Affairs visited UT and met with Prof. Mohammad Bagher Ghahramani, Vice President for International Affairs on 9 December, 2018. The Polish delegation was comprised of the following officials:

  1. Prof. Maciej Duszczyk, Vice-Rector of the University of Warsaw for Research and International Affairs
  2. Prof. Jolanta Sierakowska-Dydo, former Dean of Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw
  3. Prof. Sylwia Surdykowska-Konieczny, PhD, Director of Iranistic Institute, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw
  4. Prof. Aneta Afelt, PhD, Interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical and Computational Modeling, University of Warsaw.

The meeting was held in the presence of the following officials from University of Tehran:

  1. Prof. Zamani, Head of UT President’s Office and Advisor to the Dean of the College of Engineering on Int. Relations
  1. Prof. Mohammadipanah, Advisor to the Dean of the College of Science on Int. Relations
  1. Prof. Anusheh, Advisor to the Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities on Int. Affairs
  1. Abdolmajid Eskandari, Director General, Office of Int. Relations

Taking into consideration that University of Tehran and University of Warsaw have a long record of academic cooperation through various programs including Erasmus mobility projects, both sides agreed upon the following in principle:

  • Renewing the MoU between the two universities
  • Accepting in principle to grant a Ph.D. scholarship to a qualified student from University of Warsaw in the field of Persian Language and Literature
  • Faculty of Literature and Humanities, College of Science, and College of Engineering  undertakeing to help with establishing further ties between its various departments including, Persian language and literature, philosophy, Iranian studies, mathematics, artificial intelligence, technical and engineering fields, etc with their counterpart in University of Warsaw specially with Faculty of Oriental Studies.
  • As University of Warsaw will arrange the ASAIHL Conference in Warsaw, Poland 2020 (Topic: Bridges for Science and Education: Cooperation, Trust, Openness, Creativity in Globalized World) on 17-19 June, 2019, the polish delegation expressed their hope for active participation of UT in the event.
  • University of Tehran also welcomed the idea and decided to consider the possible participation of the Rectors of Association of Iranian Top 13 Universities in June event or other suitable time.
  • It was also decided to exchange the draft of A Cotutelle dual/joint degree programs for the establishment of such a program in particular with UT Faculty of Literature and Humanities.
  • Both sides agreed to follow up the previous macro successful program of exchange between the two countries managed by the related ministries.
  • UT and University of Warsaw will expand their exchange programs within the framework of EU funded projects such as Erasmus+, given the former successful collaboration within the Erasmus Mundus projects (Salam, Marhaba).
  • Taking into consideration the significant role of IAU and AUP, both sides decided to consider further use of these important associations and their networks.
  • UT also will help with the establishment of Polish language as a second language at UT, provided that there are interested applicants to take the offered course.
  • Taking into consideration the program of University of Warsaw in making a strong alliance titled European University, both sides expressed their interest to exchange ideas and experiences and benefiting from such a synergy.
  • College of Engineering, College of Science, and Faculty of Literature and Humanities at UT will consider to dispatch specialized team to implement the contents of mutual agreements in connection with the programs of their affiliated colleges and faculties.
  • Both sides will help with the exchange of faculty members, students and dissemination of information on academic conferences, workshops, etc.
