University of Tehran museums register 40,000 visits in Noruz
Moghadam museum features collections of personal ornamentation, textiles, paintings, handicrafts sand pieces of furniture amongst other objects. It is named after Mohsen Moghadam who was a painter and architect as well as a professor at the University of Tehran.
Negarestan museum exhibits sets of photographs, paintings, statues, folklore musical instruments and books by famed Iranian notables. There is a showroom for tiny and life-sized wax statues as well.
Located in downtown Tehran, both garden museums are well set out with aged-manicured trees, ponds, traditional cafes and imposing buildings, which date back to Qajar era (1785 to 1925).
Some eight million people paid visit to heritage museums and historical sites across the country during Noruz holidays, according to statistics compiled by the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.
