During the presence of the representative of the University of Tehran in two international events, the China Higher Education Exhibition and the Chinese Students Abroad Study Forum, the latest developments and capacities to attract Chinese students were reviewed and analyzed. During this visit, a proposal was also made to hold a summit of top universities in Iran and China, hosted by the University of Tehran and Peking University, which was welcomed by the Chinese side.

University of Tehran's plan to attract maximum students from China

Dr. Hamed Vafaei, Deputy Director General, Office of International Relations at University of Tehran and Professor of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature, was present at these two international events as part of a delegation headed by Dr. Saeed Habiba, Head of the Student Organization of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and Deputy Minister, along with representatives from Shahid Beheshti, Sharif University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares, Isfahan, Shiraz, and Mazandaran Universities.

Referring to the active presence of the University of Tehran in these two international events, Dr. Vafaei said: "Thanks to the efforts of the colleagues of the Office of Vice President for International Affairs and the planning made, the University of Tehran, while providing up-to-date content in Chinese and publishing quality information about the University of Tehran, has provided the latest information and statistics about the university to universities and student sending centers in China, which was welcomed by the Chinese parties."

The Deputy Director General,  Office of International Relations at the University of Tehran said: "As a result of the positive interaction and significant cooperation of the international representatives of the country's universities, the Iranian Scientific Consultation in China, and the efforts of the Student Affairs Organization, the organizers of these two international events in China announced the Islamic Republic of Iran Pavilion as the selected pavilion for these events by presenting a plaque of appreciation."

Vafaei reminded: The University of Tehran is preparing a roadmap to attract maximum students from China, based on the university's internationalization programs and the goals set by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and the two general Offices of international  Relations and the international students and academic staff are planning in this regard in positive interaction with other departments of the university, and his presence on this trip was also part of this framework.

During the China Higher Education Exhibition, representatives from the most important universities in the United States, England, Russia, France, the United Arab Emirates, Central Asian countries, and a number of African countries were present. Meetings and exchanges of views with the most important educational and research centers in China were among the other programs of this trip.

During this trip, the Iranian delegation, led by Dr. Habiba, Vice Minister of Science and Head of the Student Affairs Organization, visited Peking University and met with ,Prof. Gong Qihuang, President of this Chinese university, and exchanged views.

During the meeting, Dr. Habiba proposed holding a summit of top Iranian and Chinese universities hosted by the University of Tehran, which was welcomed by the Chinese side. He also spoke about the Iranian Ministry of Science's plan to attract more than three hundred thousand foreign students and announced that Tehran believes that a significant portion of this number should be Chinese students.

In this meeting, the president of Peking University, referring to the historical interactions of this research center with the University of Tehran, said: "The cooperation between Peking University and the University of Tehran has a long history, and we are seeking to expand and deepen this cooperation."

Dr. Vafaei, Deputy Director General, Office of International Relations at University of Tehran, who is himself an alumnus of this university in China, presented the President of Peking University with a plaque commemorating the 90th anniversary of the University of Tehran, and conveyed the greetings of the President of the University of Tehran to him.

An exchange of views with the head of the Persian Language and Literature Department of Peking University and a visit to the laboratory and archaeology department of this Chinese university were among the other activities of the Iranian delegation at Peking University.

During this visit, the Iranian delegation, led by Dr. Ghanbari Baghestan, Deputy Director of Scholarship and Overseas Student Affairs at the Student Affairs Organization, visited the Chinese Language International Cooperation Center in Beijing.

During this visit, Xu Jiping, the director of the center, praised the activities of the University of Tehran in the field of Chinese language education, mentioned the positive interaction of the Confucius Institute of the University of Tehran with her center, and expressed hope that this cooperation would expand.

During the meeting, the Deputy Director General, Office of  International Relations at the University of Tehran also presented a report on the significant growth in the level of students studying Chinese Language and Literature at the University of Tehran in recent years and their high ranking in the World Chinese Language Olympiad. He also spoke about the plan of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and Literature at the University of Tehran to launch a master's degree in this field and called for the center's support for these activities.

** Beijing Foreign Studies University's desire to expand ties with the University of Tehran

In another meeting, a number of international officials from universities in the country visited Beijing Foreign Studies University and exchanged views with its officials.

In this meeting, Dr. Vafaei, referring to the University of Tehran's determination to expand scientific and research interactions with China, spoke about the plan to allocate special scholarships to attract Chinese students and stated that the Dehkhoda Institute of the University of Tehran, as one of the oldest and most prestigious Persian language education centers in Iran, is ready to hold special courses for Persian language students at this university.

During this meeting, the potential for interaction between the Faculty of World Studies, the Faculties of Foreign Languages ​​and Literature, and the Faculties of Law and Political Science of the University of Tehran with this Chinese university was also discussed and exchanged.

Relations between the University of Tehran and Beijing Language and Culture University are expanding

International representatives of the country's universities during this trip also attended Beijing Language and Culture University and discussed and exchanged views with Dr. Peng Duan, the president of this university.

In this meeting, Peng Duan considered the relations between Beijing Language and Culture University and the University of Tehran to be significant and called for the expansion of these relations.

The Deputy Director General , Office of International Relations at the University of Tehran also referred to the 2+2 joint undergraduate program between the two universities and called for the university's support in launching a similar program at the master's level, which was welcomed by the Chinese side. Vafaei referred to the capacity and position of Beijing Language and Culture University in the field of Chinese language teaching and teaching resources and spoke about conducting initial consultations for interaction between the University of Tehran and this university.

Scientific meetings and laying the groundwork for expanding scientific exchanges with China

A visit to the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in Beijing, a visit to an aerospace startup, discussions and exchanges with a number of Chinese agencies sending students to China, a meeting and discussion with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beijing, and participation in a friendly meeting with Iranian students in China were other programs of this trip, which, with the positive presence of international representatives from the country's top universities, provided significant grounds for expanding scientific interactions with China.
