Pakistani high ranking academic delegation meets with UT President
Prof. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of University of Tehran , said in the meeting with the heads of the top universities and academic officials of Pakistan, which was held at noon today, Monday, January 15, at the central campus of University of Tehran, that the conclusion of the memorandum is one of the outcomes of this meeting. University of Tehran is committed to the memorandum of understanding between this educational center and the top universities of Pakistan.
He stated that the two countries of Pakistan and Iran should connect with each other in the fields of science and technology, and added: If these two countries connect with each other in the fields of science and technology, they will bring about very good things.
The president of Tehran University criticized the state of science in the world arena and said: If science is real, it must guarantee human happiness. Studies show that science has not been able to guarantee human happiness.
Referring to the teachings of Islam, Prof. Moghimi said: Islam has taught us that science should be in the direction of material and hereafter salvation; But science is ineffective from the point of view of this function. It seems that the ontology of science is different from its main mission, which is to develop science and technology for human salvation.
He stated that two countries, Iran and Pakistan, have had unpleasant experiences with colonial powers, and added: Colonial powers use science to dominate other countries and plunder other nations.
Referring to the statements of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) about the position of the people of Pars in the scientific fields, he said: The Prophet of Islam has promised that if science is in Surya, people from Pars will achieve it. Iranians and Pakistani people are part of the Persian family and can reach scientific heights.
He continued: According to the divine mission, we are engaged in activities in scientific fields. If we unite with each other and gain true knowledge, we can free mankind from chaos.
Stating that University of Tehran is the head of the union of 14 major Iranian universities, Prof. Moghimi said: "We have the experience of forming the union of major universities of Iran and Russia" in our work record. We can create such a union with Pakistani universities.
He continued: 8 months ago, we held a meeting of the top universities of Iran and Russia at the National University of Moscow. The top universities of Pakistan can be added to the summit of the top universities of Iran and Russia, or this model can be implemented between the universities of Iran and Pakistan.
This university professor said: In order to form the union of the top universities of Iran and Pakistan, we can open the secretariat of the union of the great universities of Iran and Pakistan by next week.
He continued: Various issues such as water shortage, drought, cultural, artistic problems and terrorism should be investigated in this union. Considering that Iran and Pakistan are facing terrorist problems, we can address this issue in the union of the top universities of Iran and Pakistan and provide the output to the authorities of our countries.
Pof. Moghimi said: Universities should enter into the issue of solving problems. We have created Tehran University Internet TV in order to let the public know about scientific achievements.
Stating that the two countries of Iran and Pakistan, despite having a lot in common, communicate with each other through western intermediaries, she said: We should talk to each other face to face and in our own language.
The President of Tehran University stated that we are holding a meeting of the top universities of Iran and China and said: We have suggested that a meeting of member universities of the Shanghai Pact be held in order to provide a platform for universities to play a stronger role for their country.
Stating that the new academic semester of Tehran University will start in a month, Moghimi said: We will celebrate the 90th anniversary of Tehran University in four months. Some units of this university are more than a century old. Surveys show that Tehran University graduates play a role in various scientific fields.
He clarified: We can create double degree courses between Tehran University and the top universities of Pakistan through a joint cooperation.
