Prof. Pam Fredman, President
International Association of Universities
Dear President Fredman:
I would like to extend my appreciation for the proper position that IAU has announced and was also supported by the other IAU members, regarding the branding of the citizens of 7 predominantly Muslim populated countries as potential terrorists by the US presidential visa ban order.
This order which is based on discriminate and racist views aims to discredit whole nations and would adversely affect normal scientific collaborations among universities and academic members.
Here in Tehran, we couldn't really understand the decision made by the US president against Iranians, the talented people who have been among the brightest researchers and students in many universities in the US and also other countries. Such a decision, I think, mainly works against US national interest while may eventually lead to keep more talented people in Iran.
In general, we, at the University of Tehran, are committed to free flow of information and knowledge and would do our best to help students from all the seven countries that may have been affected by this decision.
And I once again announce our support for the right and candor stand taken by IAU on this subject.
Best wishes,
Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi,Prof.
President
University of Tehran
