The most prestigious scientific prize awarded to a graduate of University of Tehran

At a ceremony on receiving the "Benjamin Franklin Award", after the Nobel prize the prominent graduate of University of Tehran said: "I am proud to receive an award that my scientific heroes like Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Graham Bell and Max Planck have received it before me."

According to the College of Engineering, University of Tehran, in the ceremony held during the awarding week of the Franklin Foundation (April 27-24, 2023) at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, USA, the Benjamin Franklin Award was given to Professor Nader Engheta. He is a graduate of College of Engineering of University of Tehran.

The award was given to this famous scientist for "transformative innovations in the engineering of new materials in the field of electromagnetic waves that interact with ultrafast computing in communication technologies."

Professor Nader Engheta was born in 1955 and has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering. He also received his master's and doctorate degrees in the fields of electricity and physics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).

Nader Engheta has previously received many international awards, including the National Science Foundation Young Researcher Award (1989), the IEEE Electromagnetism Award (2012), and the Balthazar Gold Medal at the World Radio Science Union (2014).

He has also received the gold medal of the International Society of Optics and Photonics (2015), the gold medal of the Isaac Newton Institute of Physics in the field of metamaterials (2020).

At the 2023 award ceremony of the Franklin Institute, the world's top 9 scientists who have made tremendous changes in the field of global science and technology were honored in various fields.
