Award ceremony of Chinese Bridge competition in Iran held in University of Tehran

The final stage of the World Chinese Language Olympiad was held in Tehran with the presence of the Chinese ambassador and the final winners were announced.

According to the Public Relations report of the University of Tehran, the final stage of the World Chinese Language Olympiad was held on 7 June, 2023, with the presence of the Chinese ambassador and cultural advisor and a group of officials from the Chinese embassy.

Prof. Seyed Mohammad Marandi, Vice President for International Affairs of University of Tehran, in a short speech, expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and those involved in the organization of this course and described the holding of the World Chinese Language Olympiad hosted by University of Tehran as an important step in the direction of mutual recognition between the two countries of Iran and China.

Prof. Marandi, expressing his memories of the formation of Chinese studies in Iran, added: Once upon a time, there were not as many people familiar with the language and culture of China in Iran, but today we are witnessing the holding of this event with the presence of important universities in the country and the presence of Iranian experts familiar with the Chinese language.

Dr. Hamed Vafaei, Deputy General Director, Office of International Relations, University of Tehran, while presenting a report on the process of holding these competitions, said: These competitions were held in two preliminary and final sections.

Chinese language students from University of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti University , Allameh Tabataba'I University  and Isfahan University  participated in the preliminary part, and 4 students from each university were selected. The names of these students were sent to the Secretariat of this competition, which was based in University of Tehran, and 16 people made it to the final stage.

Mr. Chang Hua, the Chinese ambassador to Iran, was present at the ceremony from the beginning to the end.

In his speech, he thanked the University of Tehran and the Confucius Institute for the successful holding of the 22nd World Chinese Language Olympiad (Chinese Language Bridge), and said: The holding of the World Chinese Language Olympiad for the students of the world has been going on for 22 years.

  The central theme of this year's competition in Chinese is "One World, One Family", which actually represents the realization of the common concept of the destiny of human society, which was proposed by the Chinese leader Mr. Xi Jinping.

China's ambassador to Iran stated that more than half a century has passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Iran, and added: During this time, the two countries have cooperated closely in various fields for mutual benefits and achieving win-win results.

They have become a model of friendly exchanges for the countries of the world, and this is a perfect example of building a society with a common future for humanity.

He stated that language is the crystallization of human wisdom and the bridge of mutual understanding and connection of people's lives all over the world, and language is the best key to knowing a country. He further said: I hope all the participants in these competitions consider this language as a bridge.

A bridge to get closer to China, a bridge for friendship between China and Iran, a bridge to understand China and spread its culture, and a bridge for peace and embracing the world and protecting the peace of the world.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Vafaei, the Secretary of the Olympiad, announced the winners of this round of competitions as follows, and these people were honored by appearing on the stage and receiving diplomas of honor for participating in the competitions, certificates of appreciation and prizes:

- Mrs. Fatemeh Behzadenjad - top talent in the field of language learning abilities (Isfahan University)

- Mrs. Arzoo Sheikhi, the best talent in the field of accurate pronunciation of Chinese sounds (Allameh Tabatabai University)

- Mrs. Mobina Muradkhani, top talent in the field of verbal skills ( University of Tehran)
