A high ranking delegation from University of Melbourne, Australia visits University of Tehran (College of Engineering)

On August 28, 2016, a high ranking delegation from the University of Melbourne, Australia including the following faculty members and officials visited college of Engineering, University of Tehran and met with the officials and faculty members:  

  1. Professor Tom Kvan, Pro Vice Chancellor, Campus and Global Development, Professor in urban design and urban planning
  2.  Professor Peter Scales, Director Australia-China Water Centre, Director Particulate Fluids Processing Centre, and Deputy Dean, School of Engineering
  3. Prof Abbas Rajabifard, Associate Dean, Melbourne School of Engineering, and Head of Department of Infrastructure Engineering, the University of Melbourne, Professor in Geomatics, Spatial Data Infrastructure and Land Administration
  4. Professor Ashokkumar Muthupandian, Associate Dean International, Faculty of Science, and Professor in applications of ultrasound in food and dairy ingredients (Sonochemistry) ,Sonophotocatalysis (Sonochemistry, Photocatalysis)
  5. Professor Andrew Western, Deputy Head, Department of Infrastructure Engineering, Professor on Catchment Hydrology, Catchment water quality and Groundwater Hydrology
  6. Professor Michael Stewardson, Discipline Leader Environmental Hydrology and Water Resources Group, Department of Infrastructure Engineering
  7. Professor Vincent James Pettigrove, Ecologist at Melbourne Water and The Faculty of Science, Professor in Aquatic ecology and pollution management (Water pollution, ecology)

The  main aim of the visit, which was the second visit this year, was about development of a multi-institution interdisciplinary research agenda focusing on major issues such as water with a potential establishment of a joint research centre in water and sustainability, and also facilitating research around related areas such as land and spatial management, urban planning and health. The delegation also exchanged ideas on the mechanisms of establishing an Iran –Australia Water Research Center in association with University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology and related administrative bodies.

This meeting was held in the presence of Prof. Delavar, Advisor to the Dean of College of Engineering on International Relations , Prof. Imam Jome , Head of Secretariat for International Researches at UT and Head of UNESCO chairs at UT , Prof. Bani Hashemi, Head of Unesco Chair for Water Education , Prof. Araghchi , Deputy Dean for Institute of Water at UT, Prof. Zahraei , Head of Center of Excellence for Engineering and Infrastructure Management , School of Civil Engineering , and Abdolmajid Eskandari, Director General , Office of International Relations, University of Tehran.
