The International Seminar on Innovation and Creativity in the Development of Confucius's Activities in the New Era
The International Seminar on Innovation and Creativity in the Development of Confucius's Activities in the New Era "was held online in Bangkok on 19 June.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the China Language Cooperation Fund, Mr. Jaw Lingchen, three vice-presidents and deans of Chinese and Thai universities, and six Chinese language teaching activists from four continents spoke at the seminar.
Dr. Amin Bazrafshan, Member of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Director of the Confucius Institute, University of Tehran, gave a lecture entitled "Development and Prospects of the Confucius Institute, University of Tehran." An examination of the history of several thousand years of Iran-China relations shows that despite the history of several thousand years of two-drawer communication, we find that unlike teaching Persian in China, teaching Chinese in Iran does not have a historical tradition. By examining the history of several decades, Chinese language teaching in Iran can be classified into three stages: elementary, formation and development. By examining the characteristics of each course, he categorized the strengths and weaknesses of Chinese language teaching in Iran. He introduced the following issues as the most important weaknesses of Chinese language teaching in Iran.
- The issue of educating adolescents; Chinese language teaching in Iran is now done only for adult learners, the possibility of teaching children and adolescents, which is different in terms of teaching methods and educational books, is not possible due to the available facilities.
- The issue of writing native educational books; The educational books used in Iran are all books written in China, which need to be localized both in terms of educational design, practice design and other issues.
- The issue of concentration of education in Tehran; Chinese language teaching facilities are now mostly concentrated in Tehran and a small number of major cities in the country. However, many applicants for this language are in other cities.
- The issue of creating graduate courses and training Iranian teachers of Chinese language; Chinese language teaching in Iran is done only at the undergraduate level. These conditions have made it impossible for many graduates to continue their education, and the training of Chinese language teachers is limited.
- The issue of specialized language skills courses; The expansion of relations with China has created specialized needs that cannot be met in undergraduate courses. These courses create new opportunities in understanding China and need to be given special attention.
He added that the main activities of Confucius institutes in the world are educational and scientific. Confucius institutes in Iran can focus their activities with a problem-oriented and education-oriented approach to help solve these problems.
