An interview with UT Director-General, Office of International Relations
Tehran, if possible, please give me a short interview so that I, as a historian, can have a short testimony from you.
Andrei-Mihai VLAD: Do you think that today’s people are still aware of the importance of peace and forgiveness?
Abdolmajid Eskandari: The whole world has experienced destructive wars and their tragic consequences. So people are aware of the significance of peace. In the process of forgiveness, in fact, we enter into reconciliation with our ancestors whose result is peace. The roots of the conflicts refer mainly to ignorance and extremism. The digitalization and advancement of communication technologies in the modern world have contributed to the spread of knowledge and the exchange of ideas and experiences, so that people are more educated and aware of world events. Despite its positive features, some may use this situation for their evil purposes. So it is the duty of religious and educational leaders to spread the culture of peace and respect for each other’s views in order to prevent any conflict.
Andrei-Mihai VLAD: Last year I visited the ecumenical patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople twice. During the discussions, His Holiness told me that “the situation in the world is very difficult.” Do you think that this factor is due to the fact that people are hypocrites and that they see only themselves, refusing to see the other who is suffering
Abdolmajid Eskandari: Today’s world is very complex. People have certain biological and spiritual needs. Poverty and inequality sometimes prevent people from initially thinking about the suffering of others and paying attention to thematic levels. People are essentially the same and have been given the intellect to meet their biological needs and help other people. When inequalities increase, there is no room for people to think about their peers. Natural balance should exist to prevent the suffering of any class in society. Peace is the way out of iniquity. The world has become so competitive and all efforts are to survive. The social and cultural life of the world is such that people may not find the opportunity to pursue perfection. Many false needs are imposed on people and sometimes they are caught up in everyday life, which does not allow them to think about others. People are not naturally interested in being hypocritical or selfish, but sometimes life imposes these bad traits on them.
Andrei-Mihai VLAD: Can you tell me three human qualities that you consider very important in the lives of people in this world
Abdolmajid Eskandari: Faith and trust in God, good life, awareness and spiritual satisfaction.
Andrei-Mihai VLAD: Please send a message to the people of this world
Abdolmajid Eskandari: We are in the same boat and we have the same destiny. We need to work together to overcome the challenges and have a decent life. Human life knows no geographical boundaries and every individual and collective life has an impact on other people and society. We must use our divine intellect and share our knowledge and experiences to reduce the harshness of life.
Andrei-Mihai VLAD: And last but not least, you can send a message to me, a 23-year-old who is a master student of the Faculty of History at the University of Bucharest (Romania) and who wants to do something good for the world in which he lives
Abdolmajid Eskandari: Discover your skills, constantly follow your dreams, move and take the first steps, try to be dynamic in your society and help others to have a better life and then success will be in front your.
