President of University of Tehran participates at the Joint Meeting of Iranian and Russian Top Universities

The first joint meeting of Iranian and Russian Top Universities was held at the venue of Central Library in Lomonosov Moscow State University on 28 October, 2015.

The Presidents of 10 Top Universities of Iran and 19 Presidents and Representatives of Russian Universities were present in this event. In the beginning, Prof. Viktor Sadovnichiy, the Rector of LMSU expressed his happiness for the meeting and evaluated it as a significant step in the relationship between the two countries. Introducing the member universities of the meeting, he added that their presence proves the significance which we attach to this event.

Referring to the Iranian scientific progresses and presence of outstanding Iranian young scientists, he said that we hope this meeting could play a basic role in continuing academic cooperation between the two countries.

He mentioned his memories of his previous visit to Iran and his observations of the vast scientific achievements of Iranian academic community and expressed his happiness for the fulfillment of his proposed initiative to hold this meeting.

Prof. Nili Ahmadabadi also presented his remarks and then the other presidents presented the capabilities and capacities of their universities and their areas of interest for mutual cooperation.

In this meeting, a MoU was signed between President Nili Ahmadabadi and President Viktor Sadovnichiy on behalf of both delegations. Also at the sideline of this event, some other agreements were signed between the Iran and Russian universities.

The ambassador of Iran to Russia, the Acting Minister of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, Head of the Higher Education Commission of Duma and Deputy Minister of Science of Russia presented lectures in this meeting and emphasized on the necessity of broad academic cooperation between the two countries.
