High Ranking Delegation from WASEDA University pay a visit to University of Tehran
A high ranking delegation including Prof. Mikiko SHIMAOKA, (Center for Research Strategy), Prof. Keiko SAKURAI (Dean, Organization for Islamic Area Studies, Professor, Faculty of International Research and Education) and Mr. Hajime USUKURA, Coordinator (Asia, Middle East, Africa, International Office, International Affairs Division) from WASEDA University of Japan paid a visit to University of Tehran 23rd September, 2015.
In the first meeting, the delegation were received by Prof. Ghahramani, Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Masoumi, Vice President for Research and Technology, Prof. Akhondzadeh, Director General for International Students, Prof. Azizi, Dean, College of Fine Arts, Prof. Delavar, Associate Dean of College of Engineeering on Internaitonal Affarirs, Mr. Asemi, Head of Ranking Promotion Committee and Abdolmajid Eskandari, Director General, Office of International Relations.
Both sides discussed on the ways of promoting bilateral academic ties in particular concerning the exchange of students and professors for short term research programs. Referring to the upcoming visit of Prof. Nili Ahmadabadi, the President of University of Tehran to Japan and visit to WASEDA University, it was announced that a MoU will be signed by the President which will serve as a platform for future academic collaboration.
WASEDA University is a private and research based university with more than 50 thousands students. Every year, about 3000 students are dispatched abroad to promote their knowledge. Taking into consideration the similar areas of common interest, it is hoped that both universities could establish a fruitful academic collaboration.
After the meeting, the delegation attended College of Engineering and paid a visit to various laboratories of high voltage and thin film (School of Electrical and Computer Engineering). After visiting the laboratories, a meeting was held and both sides discussed on the way to do joint research projects and exchange of faculty and students.
