Success of the University of Tehran in the Subject Ranking of QS Ranking System

According to the recent report released by QS in 2015, University of Tehran has maintained its international position in five thematic categories including engineering –civil and structural, engineering – electrical and electronics, Engineering- mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing with the rank of 151-200, 261-300, 201-250 respectively. It has also gained the ranks of 151-200 and 301-350 in the fields of material sciences and mathematics (natural sciences).

QS Subject ranking is one of the very important subjects ranking at international level. It was launched in 2011 to meet the needs of students, professors and university community. Due to the difference between the subject ranking and the general ranking and to prevent from any misuse, QS has made some changes in the related standards and indexes. The quality of faculty members, reputation, citation and H-index are among the most important standards for university ranking in different subjects; however it should be noted that the scales of each of these standards in different subjects are different. The reference of QS to collect data is related to citations and publication of Scopus data base.
