Tehran University of Medical Sciences is a promising partner of BSMU
Over the years of its existence and fruitful work in the field of training highly qualified medical personnel for practical health care, the Belarusian State Medical University has earned the right to be considered one of the best medical institutions of higher education in the post-Soviet space.
Much in the academic and scientific-practical spheres was achieved, including through the exchange of experience with foreign partner universities. Today the university interacts with more than 120 universities in the near and far abroad. And the work on increasing the number of partners and expanding the geography of cooperation is being carried out day after day.
The result of the expansion of the cooperation network was the conclusion of an Agreement on academic and scientific cooperation with the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran). This document was signed by the rector of BSMU, doctor of medical sciences, professor Sergey Rubnikovich and the rector of TUMN, professor Abbas Ali Karimi.

Tehran University of Medical Sciences (or Tehran Medical University) is a public higher education institution, the largest educational and research center in the field of medical sciences in Iran.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences was founded in 1851 as the medical department of Dar ul-Funun. In 1919, it was transformed into the School of Medicine, on the basis of which the Faculty of Medicine of Tehran University was created in 1934. In 1986, the Faculty of Medicine was separated from Tehran University and transformed into Tehran Medical University.
Now the structure of the university includes 11 faculties. Therapeutic work is carried out on the basis of 16 university clinics. In addition, the Tehran University of Medical Sciences is a large educational and scientific complex for the training, retraining, certification and advanced training of medical personnel.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the key partners of the Belarusian State Medical University in the field of training specialists for practical health care. More than 300 Iranian citizens study in our educational institution, both at the 1st stage of higher education and in clinical residency. However, the academic and scientific fields also have many points of contact and mutual interest.
The agreement signed with the Tehran University of Medical Sciences opens up the following areas of bilateral cooperation for both universities:
- conducting joint Internet conferences, scientific and practical conferences, seminars and symposia on topical problems of medicine;
- joint preparation of scientific articles devoted not only to current problems of medicine, but also to modern trends in education and healthcare, joint publication in medical journals indexed in the Web of Science and/or Scopus;
- attracting highly qualified specialists from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Belarus to participate in the educational process.
In view of the significant number of Iranian students studying at BSMU, special attention is paid to the issue of recognition of our educational institution and its inclusion in the list of universities recommended by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran for training Iranian citizens abroad. An agreement was reached on the exchange of experience and expertise in order to establish the equivalence of curricula, analyze curricula, optimize curricula for citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran studying at the Belarusian State Medical University.
The Belarusian State Medical University and the Tehran University of Medical Sciences plan to intensify and expand bilateral cooperation on all issues of mutual interest in the next five years.
