A global call to increase soil carbon for climate action and food security
Prof. Farshad Amiraslani, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Geography, University of Tehran, has recently co-authored a paper in “Nature”: International Journal of Science
Under the “4 per 1000” Initiative and in the midst of Climate Change Summit held in Katowice (Poland) and World Soil Day (5 Dec), these six scientists have called for action to increase global soil carbon.
They have recommended eight steps including stopping carbon, promoting carbon uptake, monitoring, reporting and verifying impacts, deploying technology, testing strategies, involving communities, coordinating policies and providing support.
