Special prize of best innovative technology in AIR CATEGORY in ENERGY globe 2017 for Soft pressure reducer system has been granted  to an industrial product which was derived from a PhD thesis in the Faculty of New Sciences and Technologies in University of Tehran.

Research team of the project and PhD thesis consisted of Dr. Mojtaba Tahani, Dr. Hossein Yousefi, Dr. Younes Noorollahi and Roshanak Fahimi Hanzee, PhD student.

Soft pressure reducer system is a high-tech and innovative system which can play two main key functions as pressure management and distributed hydropower generation in water distribution pipelines. This innovative plant is the first soft pressure regulator and energy generator in water distribution pipeline in the middle-East which has upgraded technology level of Iran in this field by top five countries with similar projects worldwide.

The Environmental friendly approach leads to significant amount of distributed generation of green energy and reduction of emission and wasted water as an outstanding value for this technology. The Innovative idea of Smart green pressure regulator was carried out by one of PhD student in University of Tehran (Roshanak Fahimi Hanzee) and Team of her supervision was supported by Ministry of Energy.

Industrial implementation of the project was carried out by Tehran Water and Waste water Company with close cooperation of University of Tehran and a knowledge- based company (TAHA Co.). It can be described below advantages for the system:

1- Distributed generation of green energy

2- Pressure management in network & reducing wasted water Improving readiness and resilience

4- Creating a smart layer, including monitoring, decision making and control features in water network

5- Peak shaving
