International Webinar on “Entrepreneurial Learning: Using the DYME Framework to Teach Business Model Innovation”
On June 12, 2025, the Faculty of Entrepreneurship at the University of Tehran hosted an international webinar titled “Entrepreneurial Learning: Using the DYME (Developing Your Mind/Model of Entrepreneurship) Framework to Teach Business Model Innovation.” The session featured Prof. John Dobson (Clark University & DYME Institute), with participation from Prof. Abolghasem Arabiun and Prof. Jahangir Yadollahi Farsi (University of Tehran). Students of Prof. Dobson from several countries also attended, reflecting the program’s international footprint.
In his opening, Prof. Arabiun underscored practice-centered entrepreneurship education and aligning teaching with market realities in Iran.
Prof. Dobson presented the DYME framework as a problem-based, action-learning approach that guides learners from opportunity development to evidence-based validation and iterative business-model design. He outlined practical classroom integrations for business-model innovation labs and studio courses, and addressed assessment and scaling of experiential modules for broader program adoption.
Dobson’s notes & highlights
Problem-based over plan-driven: Emphasis on concrete entrepreneurial experiences to build capability and resilience.
Experiential anchor: Customer discovery, low-cost experiments, and iterative model design as core teaching tools.
Stepwise delivery: DYME uses modular steps (e.g., opportunity mapping → validation → effective selling) to move learners toward market engagement and feedback.
Program enablement: Trainer development, global access, and portability of the approach across different contexts.
