Appointment of Dr.Vafaei as Director General of the Office of International Relations, UT

In a decree issued by Dr. Omid, President of the University of Tehran, addressed to Dr. Hamed Vafaei, it is stated:

“In view of your commitment, knowledge, and valuable experience, and upon the recommendation of the esteemed Vice President for International Affairs, you are hereby appointed, while maintaining your teaching and research responsibilities, as the Acting Director General of the Office of International Relations of the University of Tehran. It is expected that you will make the utmost use of all the university’s facilities and capacities to advance the university’s internationalization strategy, expand international academic collaborations, enhance the university’s standing in global ranking systems, and ensure the university’s active presence in international academic forums.”

Previously, Mr. Abdolmajid Eskandari served as the Director General of the Office of International Cooperation of the University of Tehran.

In addition to teaching Chinese literature, history, and Chinese studies at the University of Tehran, Dr. Hamed Vafaei has also taught Iranian Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University. His academic record includes participation and presentations at numerous international scholarly conferences in China, such as the World Congress of Philosophy hosted by Peking University, the Arshan International Forum, the Beijing International Dialogue Conference, the Belt and Road Global Forum, and other international academic events. Several of Dr. Vafaei’s articles have also been published in Chinese-language academic journals and media outlets.

Dr. Vafaei’s contributions since returning to Iran include authoring and translating several books and dozens of articles on Chinese affairs, establishing the Chinese-language website of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), directing the Asia Research Center at the University of Tehran, and teaching and mentoring Iran’s China scholars as a university professor.

Recently, one of Dr. Vafaei’s scholarly articles was published by Routledge International Publications in the Chinese Studies Series.

He has also been the Director of the University of Tehran’s Asia Research Center, the Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Tehran, and the Deputy Director General for International Cooperation.
