The book ‘History of Islamic Mysticism and Sufism in Iran,’ written by Parvaneh Orujnia, was translated and published in Italy.

This project was a collaborative effort between the cultural attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Italy and the Center for Translation and Publication of Islamic Teachings and Humanities of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization of Iran, IRNA reported.

Parvaneh Orujnia, born in Tehran in 1962, holds a Master's Degree in religions and mysticism and a PhD in Islamic mysticism from the University of Tehran. She has authored numerous books on the subject.

The book was translated by Mahdi (Giuseppe) Aiello, an Italian Shia Muslim and philosophy graduate. Aiello has published over a hundred books on Islamic teachings. The Italian publisher IRFAN, known for its long-term collaboration with the Iranian cultural attaché in Italy, released the book, which includes an introduction by Mohammad Taghi Amini, the cultural attaché.

The book explores the history of Islamic mysticism and Sufism in Iran from the sixth and seventh centuries to the present day. This publication aims to enhance the understanding of Islamic mysticism and Sufism among Italian researchers.

The original Persian version was first published in June 2016 by Iran Cultural Studies Publications.
